What is the DreamHack DreamLeague
The DreamHack DreamLeague has been run for 14 season from 2013 to 2020, with the DreamLeague Kickoff Season taking place at the end of 2013, and Season 13 was the last official DreamLeague ending on January 26, 2020. Since 2020 there hasn’t been an official DreamHack DreamLeague tournament, due to a number of reasons, with the COVID-19 pandemic playing one of the bigger roles in the hiatus of DreamLeague events.
Across the first 14 seasons, the DreamHack DreamLeague was classified as a Dota 2 Major three times, with Seasons 8, 11, 13 being the three events that were held in higher regard, and they had a much higher prize pool of US$1,000,000, as compared to the usual US$150,000 to US$300,000.
Even though the upcoming DreamLeague Season 20 isn’t classified as a Dota 2 Major, the prize pool has been lifted to US$1,000,000. The upcoming season of the DreamLeague will dangle a huge carrot in the face of teams, as the winner of Season 20 will gain direct entry into the group stage of the Riyadh Masters, which boasts a massive US$15 million prize pool.
